Children & Young People
I have worked with children and young people since 1988.
Initially working as a paediatric nurse in a children’s ward. In 2005, after further training, I moved to work with children and young people who were experiencing mental health difficulties such as OCD, Anxiety, Low mood, self-harm, behaviour difficulties, lack of confidence and poor self-esteem, fears, and phobias.
There are times when more traditional therapies have not been successful and the young person is left feeling frustrated that their symptoms continue and they can see no end to their suffering. If this sounds like your child, and they are open to undergoing hypnotherapy then please get in touch. Hypnotherapy can be used to treat many emotional health conditions in young people.
I have an enhanced DBS And follow safeguarding procedures.
If your child is under the care of CAMHS [child and adolescent mental health services], this is not a barrier to having hypnotherapy. However, it would be necessary to inform their CAMHS Practitioner and gain a letter of consent for treatment before any work is undertaken. This is to ensure we are working collaboratively.
Hypnotherapy can be used in children and young people for a variety of conditions including nocturnal Enuresis (bedwetting), Stuttering, Anxiety, poor sleep, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, exam stress, and many more.
A few examples of what hypnotherapy can help
If you do not see what you are looking for please use the contact form so we can explore what options are available to you. Chances are, hypnotherapy will be suitable.
Exam stress: prior to those important GCSEs, A-levels, or extra curricula exams, why not explore hypnotherapy techniques to give you the motivation to revise, the confidence to believe in yourself and a reduction in stress so you can be the best that you can be on the day. A discount of 10% will be offered to young people age 16 and under.
Self-esteem/confidence: You are beautiful, you are unique, you are you. Believe in yourself and magical things can happen.
Anxiety: How many times do your unhelpful thinking habits get in the way of you doing something that you know you will enjoy. Hypnotherapy can help break this cycle.
Low mood: Moods vary throughout the day and this is normal. However, if you find that your mood is low more often than not, you may need a little support to get back on track. Hypnotherapy can be used to increase your motivation, lift your mood and help you to enjoy life again.
Stuttering: Stuttering can be very stressful and frustrating for the sufferer. It can increase anxiety, which in turn, increases stuttering. It can result in the child/young person withdrawing from activities or avoiding situations in which they need to talk. If this is your child, let’s work together to help them slow down their speech patterns and regain control.
Bedwetting: A child who wets the bed, can feel ashamed and embarrassed. As a parent, it can cause you an increase in workload, all those bedsheets and night ware you need to frequently wash. For the child, bedwetting causes low self-esteem, a feeling of inadequacy, restricts activities like sleepovers, and increases anxiety. Why not try hypnotherapy. Experience has shown that hypnotherapy can have positive outcomes.
Anger: Is your child labelled at school for being angry all the time, are they frequently falling out with friends, or causing stress within the family home. Hypnotherapy can help release some of that anger, reduce stress and improve outcomes for your child.
